Approach
I see power as something we all navigate, in ourselves, in our relationships, and in the organizations we are part of. The question is how consciously we use it.
The Conscious Power Evolution Model describes four stages in that journey:
Power Over is where power is used through control, authority, or dominance. It can get things done, but over time it can diminish agency, trust, and creativity.
Power Within is the shift toward owning our own power. We become more aware of how we participate in power dynamics, where we give our power away, and what drives us to control or shrink.
Power With becomes possible when we can own our power without needing to take power from others. We can engage with difference, share power, collaborate, and co-create together.
Power Beyond is where something larger becomes possible. Power becomes a collective capacity, the ability of people, teams, and organizations to create, contribute, and achieve long standing legacy.
The Conscious Power Evolution Model sits underneath all of my work. Whether I'm working with an individual leader, a team, or an organization, I'm interested in the same question: how do we become more conscious of the way we use power, and what changes when we do?
With individuals, that often begins with awareness and ownership of our own power. With teams, it means learning to work with difference, share power, and create together. At the organizational level, it means examining the systems, culture, and ways of working that reinforce old patterns or create space for something different.
The direction is toward Power Beyond, where power becomes a collective capacity to create, contribute, and make a difference beyond any one person. For me, that is what a more life-affirming organization looks like: a place where people can do meaningful work, exercise agency, grow, create together, and contribute to something larger than themselves.
